Mission statement for Radboud University Press, formulated on the basis of the meeting of the editorial board in September 2025

Purpose

Radboud University Press (RUP) exists to advance and safeguard academic knowledge by ensuring that high-quality research is published in ways that reflect scholarly values rather than commercial interests. Our mission is to strengthen academic freedom, maintain control over publicly funded research, and contribute to the visibility and reputation of Radboud University.

Commitment to Quality and Openness

At the heart of RUP is a commitment to quality. What we publish must meet rigorous academic standards and contribute to (inter)national scholarly debates. This pursuit of excellence is closely tied to the principle of openness. We strongly support open access with our Diamond Open Access policy. In this way, knowledge generated with public resources remains freely available, ensuring broad accessibility and societal impact.
